The "Drive" Hitting

THEORETICAL MATERIAL
The hit called "drive" is made by placing the racket at the level of the face, making a more or less straight shot that passes over the net towards the opponent's field. As in other hits, the drive has three phases: preparation phase, execution phase and recovery phase.

PRACTICAL SESSION

Session 7: “The Drive Hitting”
Materials: Shuttlecocks, badminton rackets, hoops, Tablet.
Grade: Fifth.
Timing: 45 mins.
Session aim: To learn the hit called "drive", through different activities that put it into practice.

INITIAL PART (Session 7)
Activity 2: Stop the shuttlecock
Timing: 5 mins.
Teaching Style: Direct Command.
Key Competences: Linguistic Communication; Learn to learn; Social and Civic; Cultural Awareness and Expression.
Aim: To have a first contact with the characteristic badminton movement called "drive".
Description:
In pairs, one of the components will throw ten shuttlecocks to their partner, who must stop them with a racket in his/her hand.
Rules:
1. The shuttlecocks must be thrown at the height of the partner's face.

2. Every ten turns, they will change roles.
Pictorial:
Variants: The same exercise will be performed, although with the variant that the player who has to stop the shuttlecocks will hold two rackets (one in the right hand and the other in the left).
Intensity: Medium.
Space: Gym.
Materials: Rackets, shuttlecocks.
MAIN PART (Session 7)
Activity 3: Make a “drive”
Timing: 8 mins.
Teaching Style: Direct command.
Key Competences: Linguistic Communication; Learn to learn; Social and Civic.
Aim: To learn and put into practice the hit of the "drive".
Description:
In pairs, a component will launch ten shuttlecocks to their partner, who must respond by executing drives.
Rules:
1. The launch will be made to the face of the partner.

2. The trajectory of the shuttlecock will always be at straight direction.
Pictorial:
Variants: The same game will be played, although the throwing component must be done on both sides of his partner, at the height of his face, so that he changes his grip.
Intensity: Medium.
Space: Gym.
Materials: Shuttlecocks, rackets.
Activity 4: Pass the shuttlecock through
Timing: 8 mins.
Teaching Style: Task assignment

Aim: To acquire the "drive" technique through changing environments.
Description:
In pairs, a component will hold a hoop at the same height as the net. The other will make "drives" to put the shuttlecock through the ring.
Rules:
The height of the hoop will be the same as the one in the net.
Pictorial:
Variants: The game will be the same, although this time the person holding the hoop will be able to move in space, always keeping the hoop at the same height.
Intensity: Medium.
Space: Gym.
Materials: Hoops, shuttlecocks, rackets.
Activity 5: Stepping on one foot
Timing: 8 mins.
Teaching Style: Task assignment

Aim: To work the "drive", through coordination of movements in a changing environment.
Description:
In pairs, each component will remain on one leg. They will continuously exchange "drives".
Rules:
1. It can be decided which leg to flex.

2. Throws in a straight line, at face height.

Variants: In pairs, a match will be held on the playing field. It will be valued with one point for each successful move, and three points for each drive hit.
Intensity: High.
Space: Gym.
Materials: Net, shuttlecocks, rackets.
